HILDUR GUDNADOTTIR’S LIVE SCORE FOR HBO’S CHERNOBYL
2020 · Music video
"This site-specific performance took place in the industrial space of Mińska 65. The score is a vast soundscape, created using field recordings made at the decommissioned Ignalina nuclear power plant by sound artist Chris Watson – the location for the filming of Chernobyl. Eschewing traditional instrumentation, Guðnadóttir utilised the very same materials and environment that caused the catastrophe: the body of the power plant - the piping, pumps and turbine halls." We used 4 cameras to film the performance, two of them were moving around with Steadicam and the other two were using very powerful ARRI Alura zooms. It was fun!
